Hyundai leads Australian Manufacturers Championship

Last weekend saw the Victor Chang Hyundai Tiburon driven by George Miedecke consolidate its lead in Class D of the Australian Manufacturers Championship.
Three races were run over both days of the weekend. Miedecke’s performance in the wet in race two ensured he won the race outright ahead of the AWD Mitsubishis and the BMWs.

The weather conditions at Oran Park improved considerably for the third and final race of the meet. Several incidents required the Hyundai Santa Fe safety car to be deployed. The Tiburon was leading when the second incident occurred and the safety car led the field through to the chequered flag.

The weekend proved to be an early father’s day gift for the Miedecke family, with George’s father Andrew Miedecke also winning his class over the three races.
“It was great to race the Victor Chang Hyundai Tiburon against my father. The varying conditions suited us and I had just enough tyres to win the last two races,” said George Miedecke. “Thanks to Hyundai and the TAFE support crew for supporting me this weekend.”
